Named after a lighthouse that was built too late.
Start Point is a long finger of rock on the South Devon coast, marking where the coastline changes direction. The lighthouse went up in 1836 — after enough ships had been lost there to make the case for it.
It doesn't move anything. It tells you where you are, which is usually the thing missing at the start of a programme.
I work with organisations weighing up an AI or change programme, running one, or trying to rescue one. Cisco, Virgin Media, Vodafone, McKinsey: two decades inside the kind of programme I now get asked to review, a fair number of them run the way I'd now argue against.
How I work
Short, senior engagements with a written argument at the end. One person in the room rather than a staffing pyramid. If a programme should stop, I'll say so — and I'd rather say it in month two than month twenty.
What I won't do
Rebadge a vendor roadmap as a strategy. Or measure activity and call it value.
